Dan Keister has always been one of those guys that likes to take stuff apart just to see how it works. And then get it back together again in working condition (that's key!) Trained as a pattern maker in the US Navy, attention to detail has always been a key skill and one he's used in each profession he's tackled. After 12 years at Time Warner Cable as a technician and trainer and then a few years sitting at a computer doing CAD work, Dan decided it was time to get back to doing what he loves—working with his hands and getting dirty.
Keister Equipment Repair was born in 2011 in a shop behind the house. It quickly became obvious that northern Johnson County needed a small engine repair shop—and Dan needed more space to serve our growing customer base. We moved the business to the current Merriam Drive address in the spring of 2015 and continue to grow and expand.
In January of 2020, we changed the name of the business to OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT SOLUTIONS to better encompass the business we’ve become. Our motto is to only do the work necessary, only carry product lines that we believe in, always give the customer more than they expect—and do it all with a smile. We think that last part is pretty important.
Dan's wife Lesli left the corporate world as a marketing manager and joined the business in the summer of ’15.
